Interpublic Promotes Gatfield and Krakowsky to New Strategic Roles

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 2005--The Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) announced today that it had added to the responsibilities of two senior executives. Effective immediately, Stephen Gatfield, previously Executive Vice President, Global Operations and Innovation, has been named Executive Vice President, Strategy and Network Operations. Philippe Krakowsky, previously Senior Vice President, Director of Corporate Communications, has been named Executive Vice President, Strategy and Corporate Relations.

"These promotions serve to confirm the key roles Steve and Philippe have been playing as we move through the early stages of our turnaround," said Interpublic Chairman and CEO Michael I. Roth. "Both have proven to be significant resources to me and many of our operating units. Along with our recently-appointed Chief Financial Officer and Chief Growth Officer, as well as our Chief Human Resources Officer, today's moves fill out our senior corporate team."

Mr. Gatfield, 47, has served in senior management roles at highly creative advertising agencies, leading global advertising networks and at the holding company level. According to Mr. Roth, "Steve's extensive operational experience and unrivalled knowledge of international markets, particularly in Asia, make him an ideal choice to develop corporate strategy and ensure that we are delivering integrated solutions to clients, especially in key growth markets."

Mr. Krakowsky, 43, has also worked across the full range of advertising and marketing services companies, in communications, marketing and strategic roles. According to Mr. Roth, "Philippe has an in-depth knowledge of our people, our agencies and the industry. He will continue to lead our positioning and outreach to all internal and external audiences, as well as providing strategic counsel to the corporate team and operating unit management."
