New York, NY - December 9, 2013 - Today the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation announced that Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) received a score of 100% on its Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The CEI report rates large U.S. employers and their policies and practices as they pertain to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LBGT) employees and their families. Employers receiving scores of 100% are recognized as "Best Places to Work" for the LBGT community.
The HRC is the largest LBGT civil rights organization, and the CEI report is the gold-standard in benchmarking best-practices in LBGT inclusion policies. This is the 12th year the organization has released its Corporate Equality Index. To earn a perfect score, employers must demonstrate best-in-class corporate commitment to LGBT employees, as well as dedication to achieving an all-around diverse and inclusive workplace.
In 2010, Interpublic became the first global marketing services holding company to be included in HRC's list of "Best Places to Work" based on its perfect score. This year, the company again earned its perfect score through a series of comprehensive audits of its policies, including medical coverage, non-discrimination policies, employee guidelines and training, as they relate to LGBT employees and their partners.
"It is an honor to once again be recognized as a 'Best Place to Work' for LGBT employees," said Michael Roth, IPG's Chairman & CEO. "IPG is fully committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce, and outside recognition from advocacy leaders like the Human Rights Campaign prove that our formal policies are supportive of that goal. Additionally, our business resource groups, and in this case especially the IPGLBT, are a major part of how we promote diversity in the workplace. While we know we have a long way to go, it great to know that IPG is doing its part to make our workplace more inclusive."
