NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 2006--The Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) announced today that it has elected William T. Kerr, 65, to its Board of Directors. Mr. Kerr, currently Chairman of the Meredith Corporation, will join the board immediately.

"Bill Kerr is a terrific addition to our board," said Michael I. Roth, Interpublic's Chairman and CEO. "During the course of his career, Bill has successfully led a broad range of organizations. Now, more than ever, media is a key component of the marketing programs we develop for our clients. Bill's deep understanding of the dynamic media landscape will bring important perspective to our Board as we chart the future direction for Interpublic."

In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day business of the company's operating groups. He has also been a member of the Meredith Board of Directors since 1998.

Before joining the Meredith Corporation in 1991, Kerr was a Vice President of The New York Times Company and President of its magazine group, a position he held since 1984. He is immediate-past Chairman of The International Federation of the Periodical Press, and serves on the board of The Business Committee for the Arts. He is also a Trustee of Oxford University Press (USA) and serves on the board of Harvard Business School Publishing.
