Interpublic Sponsors West Coast Supplier Diversity Fair
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 2007--Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) held its first-ever industry-wide West Coast supplier diversity trade fair today in Hollywood, CA. During the event, held at the Pacific Design Center (PDC), minority-owned businesses met with agency representatives from top advertising, marketing, communications and public relations agencies within Interpublic's network of agencies. The event was jointly sponsored by Interpublic, one of the world's largest providers of marketing services and the Southern California Minority Business Development Council (SCMBDC), which is the largest nonprofit minority business advocacy organization in the region, serving 1,300 minority business enterprises and 300 corporate members throughout 13 counties.
The event was structured so that potential minority vendors attended the fair, while Interpublic agencies acted as the exhibitors. Agency representatives consisted of employees from general procurement, print/broadcast production and creative departments. Interpublic had 13 business units and 60 minority suppliers participating in the event.
"We are so pleased that Interpublic, as a corporate member, proposed this event to further open the doors of opportunity for minority owned companies to work with their many leading agencies. We know that this will go a long way to further establish strong business relationships between Interpublic and qualified minority owned companies," commented John Murray, President / CEO of the Southern California Minority Business Development Council, Inc.
"This event is another step in the right direction for Interpublic and its agencies to solidify our commitment to supplier diversity," commented Floyd Conway, Supplier Diversity Director of Interpublic.
